Visualization for Art & Science

As a frequent visitor to edge, I am familiar with the beautiful work produced by Katinka Matson. One look at her website, and it becomes immediately apparent how powerful vision can be in science. Sometimes, when we step away from the graphs and equations, and just observe, this act has the ability to uncover details that open us up to new ideas and even more questions. Recognizing this, I believe, makes a better scientist. In addition to the purely aesthetically pleasing benefits of viewing nature through a different 'lens', it can also serve to develop a new appreciation for a subject.
