Metagenomics 2007 conference

Just finished three great days at the Metagenomics 2007 conference at UC San Diego. From the opening talk given by Larry Smarr, through to the final workshops, the theme of interdisciplinary research and collaboration was pervasive. If the 130 or so attendees, I was one of only two climate physicists (the other being Mick Follows at MIT), but I still am coming away with many exciting ideas for extending my research, as well as the potential for some new collaborations. I had a poster which expanded on some of the Atlantic transect of the GOS work, and I can't write it fast enough, so I can move onto some of these newer ideas. Webcasts of all of the talks are available. More will follow.
