This is one of the reasons that I have always been a fan of REM. They are always doing what they feel is right for music, and putting their new video out for the public in an 'open licence' format fits right into the path they have taken over nearly three decades. This isn't the same as viewing their video on a commercial website, and there is a parallel here with open-access publishing. Just one more phase in REM's evolution.

Excellent! I've always been an REM fan myself for the same reasons you've mentioned, hope that after all these years they'll get back to their pre out-of-time days :)
