Australia moisture

As all agri/commodity markets are focusing on Australia's water situation, the daily water vapor images are usually the first thing that I look at each morning. This recent satellite image (source image via McIDAS) shows the current front, as well as the high pressure barrier that is preventing much of the equatorial moisture from migrating southward. I modified the source image to show the water vapor intentionally accented (actually distorted), demonstrating the diffrences as a function of latitude. Despite some recent convection, Australia wheat will not be getting much help, and this pattern looks to continue for the next few weeks.
