We did this pretty much for fun, but this long range snow forecast is verifying nonetheless. Skiing magazine contacted my company in the spring about making a guess at opening season ski conditions in the Rockies. So with about 10 minutes of research, I put together a little outlook. The 1/2 hour interview was reduced to a sentence in a grainy piece (which was misquoted - a December cold air mass is what was discussed), but the general outlook, which was actually made last year, is being supported by the majority of CO ski areas opening in November, and pretty operational by early December.
